چکیده

Several formulations of glyphosate were applied with or without imazapyr in June and October 2000 at sites located in Georgia, M ississippi, and Texas. The objective of the research was to compare control of woody species between experimental and conventional formulations of glyphosate with or without imazapyr. Percentage change in total length of woody stems was evaluated immediately before treatment and one year following treatment. In general, the experimental formulations of glyphosate provided similar levels of woody control as that observed for Accord®SP or generic glyphosate. Woody control from Accord®SP was often greater than that observed from generic glyphosate, especially at the Georgia site.

Pushing toward Cogongrass (Imperata cylindrica) Patch Eradication: The Influence of Herbicide Treatment and Application Timing on Cogongrass Rhizome Elimination

Cogongrass, an invasive grass native to Asia, has infested thousands of hectares in the southeastern United States. Although numerous studies have examined cogongrass control, no published studies, to our knowledge, have tested strategies for cogongrass eradication. Cogongrass has a persistent, thick rhizome mat but an ephemeral seedbank; therefore, successful eradication methods must largely f...

Effects of Application Rate, Timing, and Formulation of Glyphosate and Triclopyr on Control of Chinese Privet (Ligustrum sinense)l

Chinese privet is a nonnative shrub that has invaded mesic forests throughout the southeastern United States during the past century. Foliar sprays of glyphosate and triclopyr were tested in three factorial experiments that included wide ranges of application rate, timing, and formulation to refine methods for controlling Chinese privet. For spring (April) and fall (October and December) applic...

Herbicides are Effective for Reducing Dense Native Warm-season Grass and Controlling a Common Invasive Species, Sericea Lespedeza

Practices within the Conservation Reserve Program promote planting native grasses and forbs to improve habitat for northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus) and other wildlife. However, native grasses often become dense and stands can be invaded by undesirable plant species that reduce habitat quality. We investigated three herbicides (clethodim, glyphosate, and imazapyr) at two rates to reduce n...

Brief Description of Herbicides Considered for Use on Jackson Demonstration State Forest

At this time CDF anticipates the possible use of the following herbicides for invasive weed control and reforestation purposes: Clopyralid, Glyphosate, Imazapyr, Sulfometuron methyl, and Triclopyr. New products, formulations and application techniques may provide better control and improved environmental toxicology profiles. The listed products may prove to be ineffective on a specific species....

targeted; thus, systemic herbicides offer one of the most effective tools in an integrated treatment approach. Cogongrass leaves grow directly from buds along rhizomes, without aboveground stems, and may reach 1.5 m in height (Holm et al. 1977, Bryson and Carter 1993). Because shoot meristems are below ground, cogongrass is tolerant of mowing and grazing. Cogongrass is fire tolerant, even thoug...
